ASL 2: Building Skills in American Sign Language for Families

Ready to keep signing? Join Teacher of the Deaf, Kristen Urban, for Part 2 of our family ASL series! This fun and interactive 4-week course is designed for families and learners who have completed the previous introductory ASL course and want to build confidence, expand their vocabulary, and begin using more natural ASL sentences and conversations. No advanced experience is needed—just a willingness to keep learning and signing!

Topics Covered Include:

  • Expanding everyday and conversational vocabulary

  • Reviewing and building on fingerspelling and numbers

  • Practicing ASL sentence structure and grammar

  • Describing people, objects, activities, and feelings

  • Asking and answering simple WH-questions

  • Talking about daily routines, past and future events

  • Building short conversations and simple stories

  • Developing receptive skills through signed directions, questions, and stories

  • Continued exploration of Deaf culture and ASL communication

  • Fun, interactive practice to build confidence using ASL

All materials will be included in the course! Just bring yourselves—and your signing hands!
